Anti Snoring Mouthpiece

  • Dear Dr Hamburg, Congrats on your retirement. May you live long & prosper! I tried one of those oral appliances but it was uncomfortable with a piece that hit the roof of my mouth. Also, I wouldn’t keep it in my mouth. Is your device softer & more comfortable? Any suggestions on keeping it in at night? Thanks, Karen Sheerin

    1. Hi Karen,
My new device is not soft but is very comfortable. The material fits securely around the teeth so that it will not dislodge when you open your mouth. It can be cut to fit the shape and size of your teeth. However, wearing any device in the mouth takes time to adjust too. Let me know if you need any help with it.
      Dr. Hamburg

  • Dr. H,

I didn’t know you have Retired! I am not one of your patients, but the NuSleep now SleepMD is the only anti-snoring device that has worked for me and I have tried so many others and have been utterly disappointed in them all. I was hoping to see continued improvements in your design, and many more years to purchase your device, but I’m now concerned. Do you think you will continue sell the OTC SleepMD, or will you stop providing this at some time? I might have to buy like a dozen from you if ever you decide to stop.

    1. Louie, I retired from my Sleep Medicine practice to focus on my online mouthpiece. It will continue to be sold and updated as needed. I am so happy to hear that it is working for you. Dr.Hamburg

      1. This is good news. I wish you all the best. This device works even better than the last prescription mouthpiece I had. Its so inconvenient to have to go to an office to get it molded to you. And then when in actual practice have it cut you gums, and unable to remold it or adjust it to make it comfortable.

To me, the fact that your device works in the same fashion as those prescription devices, and has the added benefit to be able to remold it, or cut it down to make it more comfortable makes it superior. I know I always leave a lot of positive reviews on your websites, I hope you don’t mind. There are so many bad products out there with great marketing to make them look good. Yours is a product that actually works, but you have to really search far and wide to find it. This product should be at the top of all the OTC anti snoring and sleep apnea devices, but you wouldn’t know it unless referred by someone who knows. I think I stumbled across it from a random blog review, and even they were trying to make the case that the SnoreRX or the Good Morning Sleep solution was better. I had just come off the SnoreRX after many months of frustrated nights with it falling out, sore gums and extreme bitterness. So I ordered both yours and the GMS. I tried the GMS first thinking it would be a good change of pace and save my gums some needless bleeding. That was a terrible mistake.

  • I have just tried the Zyppah and after only the first night I am concerned it isn’t right for me. My main trouble is not being able to close my mouth, I awakened several times with a very dry Multhauf nd lips and the tough strap makes it very difficult to swallow. Can you tel me, are most people able to close their mouth completely with the Nusleep? And is it difficult to swallow when using your device?
    Thank you for your help.

    1. If fitted correctly then you can certainly close your mouth, drink and talk. That is the real difference in this device. Dr. Hamburg

  • I’m just checking different devices out to see what you have because the one I have is for sleep apnea plus it’s the whole unit for the mouth and nose and it’s making my nose raw so I have to find something else for mouth only so I’m just checking out and seeing what you have and thank you for your time

    1. Generally speaking, mouthpieces are indicated for mild to moderate Obstructive Sleep Apnea. About a third of severe patients can be helped as well. The most important factors to predict success is neck size and over all weight. Very large necks and very heavy people are not good candidates for such treatment. Dr. H

  • I followed these instructions but the sides were so soft couldn’t hold them up all around my teeth at the same time, parts of the plastic stuck to itself and I unfortunately can’t use the mouthpiece at all.

  • I am so glad this product is offered again. I had the NuSleep version, which I am not sure is any different, for a year or so until it naturally was was time to replace and I searched all over to order a new one but could not find it and was left having to try another product that works okay but but with it being one piece I notice that I sometimes will wake up and my bottom jaw is out making it useless. I have tried them all from the tongue stabilizer to the various other mouthpiece brands but two separate pieces make a world of difference and I’ll be ordering a new device up asap.

  • Thаnk ʏou, I have recently Ƅeen searching for information approҳimately this topic foг a while and yours is the bеst I have
fߋund out tіll now. However, what about the conclusion? Are you sure concerning the source?

  • Dr H,
I’m from Dubai and I’m a regular smoker and weekend drinker, my height is approximately 5.6 feet and weight is 92-95 kgs. My snoring is too heavy and disturbing others, so if i buy this will it suit according to my jaw & teeth or is it flexible to fit.

Will this solve my snoring problem?

    1. Yes it should help your snoring. It is moldable so it will form around your teeth. Make sure you check out the instructions in the website header. Dr. Hamburg

  • Hi, I am looking for something for my husband. My mom wears a guard like this with pins in front that pull her lower jaw forward. I couldn’t tell if yours was like that or not.
    Thanks 🙂

    1. This device does not require pinning or bands to maintain forward jaw position. The wheel is guided by the wings to protrude the jaw while allowing normal mouth function: yawning, talking and swallowing. I hope you give it a try. I think you will like it. Dr. Hamburg

  • After recently being diagnosed with mild-moderate obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), I was prescribed a CPAP by my physician. This is where my journey began. After trying to cope with a CPAP for over a month, and after trying various masks, nasal pillows, and even a BiPAP, I did not tolerate this therapy. My sleep physician then recommended that I go to the only sleep certified dentist in the state to be evaluated and fitted for a custom-fitted mandibular advancement device (MAD). After my initial consultation, I was shocked to learn that the device (SomnoDent) would cost $6,500 and I may require a replacement in a few months as the dentist only guarantees the device for 180 days. After dealing with a CPAP that was a waste of over $1500 and now a $6,500 oral device, I knew there had to be a better way. After trying various devices that I found on the internet (SnoreRx, Vital Sleep, Zyppah) I could not find anything that approximated devices that are FDA approved for snoring and OSA. Enter SleepMD. After finding Dr. Hamburg’s site, I finally found something that works! Fitting the device was not a problem (just watch the wonderful instruction videos on sleepmd.net), and the device is amazingly comfortable despite being a ridid material. I use a beddr device to monitor my oxygen saturation and heart rate during the night as well as the SnoreLab app to monitor my snoring. My Snore Score went from 32 to 1!!!
This is the ONLY over the counter device that works as well as those costing thousands of dollars. I am so happy I found Dr. Hamburg and SleepMD. I feel so much better now and have more energy than I have had in years. A wonderful device that performs as an alternative to traditional CPAP therapies. Thanks SleepMD!

  • I have been using x 1 month. VERY HAPPY. Wife rated 8/10 loudness in snoring. Now just 3. Whooshing sound instead of nasal airway trumpet 🎺 horn. $130. So worth it. It’s a nice dinner 🥘. Think of your wife. Spouse. Felt more restful as well. Generally wake up early no matter what… a few times slept till 6 am. Molding was tricky. Don’t get water 💦 too hot 🔥.
